Red Canyon is part of the Dixie Forest in a valley west of the Paunsaugunt Plateau that is surrounded by deep orange red limestone formations . The formations are almost identical in nature to those found in Bryce although the area is smaller in size. The canyon is on the way to Bryce National Park on highway 12 if you are driving east.
