San Xavier Mission 229
San Xavier Mission is a historic church built in 1692 on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation just south of Tucson, Arizona. It was named in honor of Francis Xavier who was a cofounder of the Society of Jesus. The original church was destroy and rebuilt as it exists today in 1783 and is a wonderful example of Colonial Spanish architecture. In addition to it's beautiful architecture, the site, nestled in the mountains and on the banks of the Santa Cruz River, makes it a do not miss destination when visiting the Tucson area.
