Roan Mountain State Park has the largest stands of Rhododendrums in the world. Each June the mountain sides are transformed with beautiful pink colors making this a must see destination. The state park has an easy trail to a garden that overlooks massive stands of rhododendrum as well as wonderful trails directly under and around the beautiful plants. Across the street is the Appalachian Trail to Round, Bald then to Jane Bald. On the trail there views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular.
